By Robert Hutchinson Yes, the motor burnt out on me too. First it started smoking after only seconds of use. Then the motor just stopped .

Don't botherFeb 09, 2011
By Marketeer I would give it zero stars if I could, as the motor burned out before I could cut across a 4" tile.
Go get a Makita or DeWalt with a diamond blade (I'm on my way to Home Depot as we speak).
Left it burned-out and smoking...after 5 minutes!Aug 17, 2011
By C. W. Sayre Wow. I own a LOT of cheap power tools, but I have yet to own something this cheap, poorly designed, poorly assembled, and just downright insanely defective.
As you can see from the other reviews of this product (which I foolishly ignored because of the low price), other people have had "issues" with this particular angle grinder.
My issue with it, as with the other reviewers mentioned here, was that while the manufacturer of this power tool call it an "angle grinder", it is in fact a "smoke, heat, and fire generator", and should be labeled as such for truth in advertising reasons.
With first use, this "grinder" started smoking almost immediately, and then after a minute or so began billowing out copious amounts of smoke, and became so hot that I could not touch it with my bare hands.
I then left the room to get away from the noxious fumes, but returned a few minutes later to start the "grinder" up again to see if it would actually -- and spectacularly -- flame-up (for some good Amazon product photos) but, alas, it was completely fried, and would not function.
This thing is a product liability lawsuit waiting to happen.
An excellent alternate angle grinder (a REAL grinder!), at only four dollars more, is the Black & Decker 7750 4-1/2-Inch Small Angle Grinder.
