I followed the preparation instructions to the letter and two days later I was getting complaints from co-workers that the flow was too slow and that, most importantly, it was leaking at a mild but consistent rate...and not from the drains at the bottom of the unit but from the seams along the sides of the bottom, especially if it were tilted (we don't normally tilt our water dispenser but I did tilt it and it definitely increased in its pour rate). The unit would just sit there and leak at a slow but, again, consistent and irritating rate. I wish that I had just not bought it but I am glad that we have the old tall tower that this unit was to replace because of its nice size.
Think again before you buy this.

I bought this for my mother a year ago. It is too big, and it is basically useless.
The water trickles out so slowly it takes forever to fill a glass. It is cheaply constructed and doesn't work well. Save your money, this would be better used as a boat anchor.

I received the order in about Oct 2007, it worked fine except it's a little slow in filling a glass. Last month (July 2009), it leaked water and made a big pool on my office floor which took about two hours to clean it away. I dare not buy it again.

I'm very picky when it comes to my water dispensers. I need to have one that always has hot water available and not that silly "kettle" feature where I have to push a button and wait a couple minutes for 8oz of hot water (may as well use the microwave). This fits the bill nicely. I've had it for about a year now and it hasn't broken, like others I've had. Overall this is a pretty nice dispenser.

"horsin' around"
I searched and searched for a countertop model. Finally decided on this based on other buyers opinions. I thought I could deal with the taste, which there is, but one thing I can't deal with is that the cold water trickles out. It takes about two minutes to fill a glass with water. I called customer service for Avanti. She gave me the usual suggestions about the bad taste...baking soda (already did that) and then vinegar (haven't done that yet). When I told her about the water trickling out she said "I don't know what would cause that". Asked her, "Is there was anyway to adjust it?" She said, "no". That was it. I said that maybe I will return it and all she had to say was "you can do that, ma'am". So for anyone who thinks that this company has good customer service...you are oh so wrong. Not to mention I have yet to have hot water come out of it.
Will be returnin it immediately!
