Description:

Cooking and eating healthy doesn't have to mean leaving the kitchen a mess and the sink full of dirty pots and pans. With this easy-to-use small appliance, an entire meal can be prepared in one pan. The 10-cup rice cooker makes up to 20 cups of cooked rice at the push of a button. Simply add dry rice, measure in the water, and turn the unit on. Its steaming basket allows for steaming seafood, poultry, or vegetables while simultaneously cooking rice. And if food's ready before you are, the cooker will keep food at a perfect serving temperature for up to four hours without over-cooking. In addition, the unit's see-through lid keeps in heat and moisture and allows for viewing the cooking progress without releasing steam. The rice cooker's durable nonstick cooking pan ensures effortless food release and cleans up easily by hand with warm water and a soapy sponge. Other highlights include "cook" and "warm" indicator lights, stabilizing feet, a short power cord for safety, and a stay-cool lid knob and side handles for comfortable transport. Accessories include a rice scoop, a measuring cup, and operating instructions in English and Spanish. The 650-watt rice cooker and steamer measures 11 by 13 by 10 inches.

5Excellent so far...Jan 10, 2007
By E.W.
I am very pleased with this purchase. First of all, the non stick surface is safe, healthy, and works excellently! When I cooked my first batch of rice with this cooker I was surprised that the manual calls for a 1 to 1 ratio of water to rice. With my previous experience I thought that this was absurd and that the rice would not be cooked thouroughly. I followed the instructions and the rice was cooked to perfection! I have not used the cooker for anything else besides rice, but so far I am very pleased! It is not only much safer to the health (i.e. no aluminum in contact with the food) but the clean up is much much easier!!!

5Great rice cookerFeb 05, 2007
By Dansel Adams
I had used a Panasonic rice cooker that is similar to this one. It worked great for nearly 10 years and finally the non-sticky layer was worn out, so I bought this SR-G18FG 10 Cup Rice Cooker/Steamer. It works great so far just as I'd expect. I would definitely recommend this one to others.

1Doesn't work with brown riceMar 04, 2007
By G. Wilson
I have tried 4 times to cook brown rice. I feel like Goldilocks; too crunchy, a little crunchy & all mush. When I increased the amount of water, there was a very starchy mess leaking all over my countertop. Not what I expected at all. I haven't tried white rice. Perhaps that will work, but not the reason I purchased this cooker. As soon as I locate the receipt, it is being returned.

2Spils water, burns rice in the bottomMay 10, 2008
By Ramesh Kothandan "rams"
was expecting panasonic to be a leading brand in rice cookers
but kinda dissappointed with this product. the glass cover stays
on top with gap inbetween so when water boils it get spilt all
around also rice get burned when steaming veggies.

convincing factor: cooks rice really quick
